Vacation Leave
The University recognizes the importance of time away from work to relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy leisure activities. The University provides vacation leave to assist employees with their work/life balance and to reward years of service.
Full-time Employee Vacation Leave Accruals
Vacation will accrue as follows:聽

Sick Leave
The University provides paid sick leave to full-time, non-faculty employees to help protect against loss of earnings due to illness or injury. Sick leave is not intended to be used as a substitute for vacation days. Sick leave may be used to cover absences for actual periods of illness, medical, vision, or dental visits or medical emergencies in the immediate family. For the purposes of this policy, immediate family is considered spouse, children, parents, grandparents, siblings or other dependents living in the employee鈥檚 household.
聽Sick leave is earned at the rate of one day per month beginning with the first full month of active employment.聽Sick leave cannot be used during an employee鈥檚 probationary period.聽There is no limit to the amount of sick leave an employee can accrue.

Bereavement Leave
Full-time employees, who work a minimum of thirty-seven and one-half (37.5) hours per week, may take up to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave upon the death of an immediate family member. 鈥淚mmediate family members鈥 are defined as an employee鈥檚 spouse, parent, stepparent, sibling, children, stepchildren, grandparent, or grandchild. Additionally, employees may take up to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave upon the death of an extended family member. 鈥淓xtended family members鈥 are defined as an employee鈥檚 spouse鈥檚 parent, spouse鈥檚 stepparent, or spouse鈥檚 sibling.
